The National Archives of The Order

The Margaret J. Franklin Center in Woodstock, Georgia, houses the National Archives of The Order of the Daughters of the King®. It holds copies of The Royal Cross from the late 1890s to the present; early handbooks and brochures, minutes of National Council meetings, Triennial programs, photos, audio and video recordings, records of the Funds of The Order, and early crosses. We also have an extensive logbook of charter numbers, so our national office can check to determine if a particular church has ever had a chapter.

Since the national office staff are not ordinarily available to assist researchers, The Order’s Archives are not open to the public at this time. However, mindful of our responsibility to provide access to historically significant materials, our Archives Committee has provided digital copies of The Royal Cross between 1940 and present day on this website. These issues contain not only information about The Order, but homilies given by priests and bishops, letters from deaconesses and missionaries, and much else. You can find The Royal Cross Archives here. We also hope to post images of selected artifacts as well as documents that reside in the Archives of The Order.

We are always interested in receiving documents or information about The Order’s history or that of past members. Please contact the national office if you have a question or information to share.

More about The Order's history can be found in "Lift High the Cross."
