I want to invite you to DAL Zoom Gathering. Instead of doing a Lenten study, of which most churches have an offering, I would like to have a gathering during Eastertide. It began on April 12, but our next gathering will be April 19 at 1:00 Pacific, 2:00 pm Mountain Time, 3:00 pm Central, 4:00 pm Eastern.
- April 19th - Chapter 10, All Times are Your Seasons, The Church Calendar and the Liturgical Year
- April 26th - Chapter 11, Walking the Way of the Cross, Holy Week and Easter
- May 3rd - Chapter 12, Jesus Christ Who is the Resurrection and the Life, The Burial Office
Using the book (available on Amazon) “Walk in Love: Episcopal Beliefs & Practices” by Scott Gunn,Executive Director of Forward Movement, and Melody Wilson Shobe, an Episcopal priest. The book is a walk-through of the Book of Common Prayer. Each chapter is a “stand-alone” study. We will start with Chapter 9, which talks about The Daily Office and Daily Prayer, which I think is very appropriate for us as Daughters, then Chapter 10, which deals with the yearly cycles, looking at the Church Calendar and the Liturgical Year. Chapter 11 is a close look at Holy Week and Easter. We will end with Chapter 12, which discusses the end of life. Death can be a difficult subject. We will look at our beliefs about death and how we honor the dead. Death is a time of deep grief because of our loss, but at the same time joy as we celebrate that the person has gone to be with Jesus. Jesus’ death is important to us as Christians because he redeems us and sets us free so that death no longer has power over us.
At the end of each chapter are questions “For Reflection”. We will use those questions for our discussion.

I hope you can join me as we use this introduction to the Book of Common Prayer, looking at our way of worship and how we are to live a Christian life in the Episcopal tradition. Join us even if you didn’t get time to read the chapter! Looking forward to our discussions!
