Today we traveled to a rural parish, the first to be established in the Diocese of Upper Shire in 1861. The Bishop Mackenzie Parish consists of the main church, where we met, and seven outstations. The main church and five of the outstations have Daughters' chapters. The local chapter members, who all walked the dirt roads to come to the meeting, greeted us with song. We joined in the singing as we all processed into the church for the program. The Daughters sang one song about someone coming to know Jesus and a second song about what Daughters do. As I listened to our shared experiences as Daughters, I was struck by their commitment to our vows to pray, serve, and evangelize.
