"Not to be served, but to serve."  Matthew 20:28

All Christian service is done primarily to spread the love of Christ and to give glory to our Triune God. Daughters of the King realize that no work is more important than bringing others closer to Jesus Christ.

Members of a chapter serve Christ both individually and as a group. But the first step in all service is prayer, whereby Daughters seek to discern what work God has in mind for us. The discovery of need requires dedication of a woman’s common sense, sympathy, and influence so that her service will indeed spread Christ’s kingdom. As we ask God to show us what He would have us do, we also ask Him to empower us. In the words of our motto: “I cannot do everything, but I can do something. What I can do, I ought to do. What I ought to do, by the grace of God I will do. Lord, what will you have me do?”

In the Baptismal Covenant, we promise to serve Christ by seeing Him in everyone we meet. This is often hard to do. Yet we are commanded to love and serve everyone, just as Christ loves. No matter whether our service is great or small, by offering our presence, our resources, our prayers, compassion, time and our ability to listen, we can spread Christ’s love to others.

Daughters seek to serve in humility, without drawing attention to ourselves, but only to the One we serve. When our service is birthed in prayer and wrapped in love, we do not serve from a sense of duty or or obligation, but from the deep joy of seeing Jesus in those we serve.
