This is a challenging time for all of us as our nation and the world continues to grapple with the current events.”

These words and similar ones are being repeated over and over again in every form of media and every level of government around the world. We are being challenged by this pandemic in ways most of us could not have imagined just a few weeks ago.

My heart’s first response to the evolving pandemic in the early stages was the scripture 2 Timothy 1:7 from the King James Version which says "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and of a sound mind." Whatever is happening in the world God wants us to face it knowing He is always near. God is still on the throne. He is the Ruler of all.

We are only asked to be faithful and thankful in good times and bad. God wants us to be joyful, as my diocesan assembly president, Dr. Karen Adderly-Clark, has reminded Central Florida’s Daughters. Sometimes, it is hard these days when we are physically separated from our Sisters to maintain that attitude – to feel part of a community which is the essence of our life together as Daughters. So, I encourage you to reach out to one another in new ways and rekindle the old ways. Phone instead of text. Write a note and drop it in the mail. Take a walk around your yard. It’s still okay to use technology, so let’s try to be in touch with one another.

Last but not least, turn your eyes upon Jesus. In Scripture, Paul commends us to pray fervently and without ceasing. Wherever you may be please join your Daughters’ family daily at noon and recite the Lord’s Prayer.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace

My Sisters in Christ,

I pray that you are well. My thoughts and prayers are with all Daughters as we endure these uncertain times together. In my lifetime, I have not experienced a worldwide pandemic health crisis such as COVID-19 that has universally affected everyone’s life and way of living. Can I say “Quarantine”? What can we do as Daughters during this time to help? We continue our vow of prayer! I pray daily for your health, well-being and protection. I am praying and asking all Daughters to stop what they are doing every day at noon and pray the Lord’s Prayer daily until this crisis ends. Together, we must remain united in prayer, grounded in faith so that we stand firm against this enemy and persevere through this unprecedented time. God will prevail and see us through this pandemic, hopefully, sooner than later. I pray for peace and healing to flow like a river through our communities by the power of the Holy Spirit. Won’t you pray with me? Click here to view our webpage with prayers and information about COVID-19.

In addition to prayer, reach out to other Daughters and stay connected via telephone, email or social media. If technology has not been your forte in the past, now might be the time to learn something new so you can stay in community with your sisters. For chapters in training or others who would like to have their chapter meeting via video conferencing, the national office has a Zoom account. Daughters can email and request to schedule a Zoom meeting with their chapters. It is fairly easy to do and a wonderful experience to see everyone’s faces. Many churches are live streaming their services so be sure to check into attending a virtual service. Speaking of virtual services, we have a very special one coming soon!

Please join me and other Daughters online as The Order of the Daughters of the King® virtually celebrates 135 years of Prayer, Service and Evangelism! We invite you to join us for a special virtual celebration! This Saturday, April 4th at 8 pm EST, we will begin with a special history of The Order with content from our Facebook page, then we will move to a Zoom meeting for virtual community! The Zoom information will be included on the Facebook post. Due to limited capacity, the Zoom meeting will be available on a first come, first serve basis. I’d love to see Daughters donned in blue and white and ready to toast to 135 years of The Order! I look forward to seeing you online soon!

As always, you remain in my prayers. Should you need me, do not hesitate to call or email me anytime.

Dear Daughters,

You are invited to join with Christians around the world as together we join in praying the Lord’s Prayer on Wednesday, March 25 at noon in our own time zones in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

As a community of praying women, I ask Daughters to continue to pray the Lord's Prayer daily at noon throughout this pandemic. During this time of uncertainty, we will be assured that we are not alone. Never forget we're all in this together.

Blessings! Wash your hands!!

My Sisters,

My thoughts and prayers are with you all as we persevere through this COVID-19 pandemic together. As we quarantine and social distance ourselves to prevent the spread of the virus, please make every effort to reach out to one another via phone, email and social media to stay connected with one another. As Presiding Bishop Michael Curry said, "We are all in this together."

I am sharing this message written by Province III President, Kathy Paulo, to encourage us all in this difficult time.

"We are in a time of uncertainty and anxiety resulting in fear, panic and stress. What better time for us as faithful prayer warriors to do the work we are called and have vowed to do... PRAY.

It is especially important when so many of our churches will be closed for what now seems will be an indefinite time. Please reach out to our chapters and members via social media, emails and phone calls. I urge you all to take the lead and offer prayers within your parishes and within your communities for safety, peace and healing for the afflicted. Let us not forget the health care professionals, police, public transit drivers and others who are on the front-line and whose jobs may put them in harm's way. Pray for those who will suffer financially. Pray for families that must make accommodations for school closings and children without school meals. Pray for those in our government and all positions of authority to make the right decisions for all. Pray for our clergy - they have not pastored in a time of pandemic."
