Esther Miller was a Daughter when she went to Malawi as a missionary in the 1990s. In the late 1990s she introduced The Order of the Daughters of the King, with the consent of the clergy. She took 140 crosses to Malawi in 1999 for the institution of new
chapters there. Esther worked with Josie Tengatenga, who had become a Daughter in 1984 while living in Texas, to introduce The Order to the Diocese of Southern Malawi.
The first chapter was instituted in August 2000. The Malawi chapters have grown rapidly across the four Anglican dioceses in the country, and in 2003 created their own national assembly and chose national officers. Grace Sears, U.S. National President 2009-2012, visited the Malawi Daughters while on a mission trip with the Compass Rose Society in 2009. Susan O'Brien, U.S. National President 2015-2018, attended the Triennial Convention of the Daughters of the King in Malawi in July 2018; while in the country, she also visited other Daughter's gatherings.
Hundreds of Daughters, four bishops and many priests attended Malawi's Triennial Assembly, which was held September 16-18, 2022. Bahati Kaliati was elected National President for another term.

It has become a tradition to begin all Daughters of the King conferences with a
procession through the host city as a way of evangelism to the general public.
It also serves to highlight that there is another women's group
in the Anglican Church, The Order of the Daugthers of the King®.
.
There were about 150 Daughters of the King® representatives who have been invited to attend to attend from the four diocese, as well as about 30 invited guests including Bishop Kaulanda.

At the Triennial Gathering in Malawi, Ireen Chirwa was elected for a second term as President of Malawi along with all of her executive board! As Malawi does not have a gold cross for their President, the plaque that was presented to Malawi at their initial assembly was given back to Ireen by the Bishop of the Diocese of Lake Malawi, the Right Rev. Francis Kaulanda.
